This master's programme (45 credits, code 1925) develops an in-depth understanding of the historical, social, cultural, economic, environmental, political, and legal realities facing Indigenous Peoples, along with contemporary issues and challenges, and builds skills in co-constructing knowledge, critical analysis, and academic writing. It offers a plural, interdisciplinary understanding of issues facing Indigenous Peoples at local, national, and international scales, traces multiple Indigenous social trajectories through history and the present, and examines the co-construction of knowledge alongside the epistemology and ethics of Indigenous research, while introducing methodological, ethical, and theoretical tools for Indigenous-research practice. The programme is offered jointly with the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) at UQAT's Val-d'Or campus, with some courses delivered at a distance and others only in person, and leads to the M.A. degree.
