Overview
This program provides comprehensive training in accounting alongside foundational management competencies, and satisfies the prerequisite conditions for pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. It leads to a Baccalauréat en administration des affaires (B.A.A.) over 90 credits delivered across 6 sessions, offered full-time or part-time at the Rouyn-Noranda campus or entirely at a distance. The curriculum develops knowledge and application of accounting theory and practice across financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, financial management, internal control, and audit, alongside information-systems, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Holders of a Techniques de gestion de commerce or Techniques de comptabilité et de gestion college diploma may receive advanced standing of up to 15 university credits, depending on the diploma's age and their college R-score. Graduates are prepared for professional accounting roles and further progression toward CPA certification.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The collegial route requires a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or Accounting and Management Techniques, or another relevant discipline; applicants without a recognized mathematics course are admitted conditional on passing a mathematics validation test or the course MAT1000 within 12 months of admission. Out-of-province applicants need an equivalent DEC in a relevant field, with the same conditional mathematics requirement. The university-studies route requires at least 15 completed university credits with a cumulative average of at least 2.3/4.3 or equivalent. The experience route requires applicants to be at least 21 years old, demonstrate adequate preparation (assessed by test or interview as needed), and have at least two years of full-time relevant management-related work experience attested by an employer letter, plus a mandatory letter of motivation. All applicants must demonstrate French proficiency per UQAT's institutional policy.
