— it helps other students.
This PhD programme trains researchers in cellular and molecular biology, focusing on gene expression, cell regulation, and the molecular mechanisms underlying disease. Students design and carry out an original research project using techniques in molecular biology and genetic engineering, under the direction of a confirmed thesis supervisor. The credential awarded is a Philosophiæ doctor (Ph.D.). The programme comprises 90 credits, with an estimated full-time duration of four years, structured around coursework, a comprehensive examination, and a doctoral thesis. Instruction is delivered in French. The programme is built around independent research training rather than lecture-based coursework, preparing graduates for careers in academic research, biotechnology, and the health sciences. New students are admitted in the fall, winter, and summer terms.
