This interuniversity doctoral program in oceanography, offered jointly with the Universite du Quebec a Rimouski, is a 90-credit degree with an estimated full-time duration of four years. It is one of Quebec's leading graduate research programs in the field, with faculty expertise covering biological oceanography, polar ocean ecology, ocean biogeochemistry, evolutionary ecology, numerical modelling, remote sensing and contaminant impacts on marine systems. Candidates must hold a master's degree (M.Sc.) or a D.E.A. in natural sciences or engineering, or an equivalent diploma. Before applying, a candidate must contact a faculty member from either institution who is willing to supervise the doctoral research, since admission depends on securing a supervisor. Admission is offered for the fall, winter and summer terms, and the program is completed on a full-time basis.
