MA/MS in Nurse Practitioner Practice

The Master of Nurse Practitioner Practice (MNPP) is a clinical graduate degree that prepares registered nurses for advanced clinical practice in the Nurse Practitioner role. Completing the program is required for eligibility to write the nurse practitioner licensing exam for entry-to-practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Canada, in either the All Ages All Settings or the Neonatal category of practice. The program provides preparation in advanced clinical knowledge for assessment, intervention, and clinical management across the lifespan, with diverse populations and across acute, primary, and community practice settings, building on registered-nurse competencies with advanced understanding of disease pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of medical conditions, and enhanced primary-care prevention and screening. Graduates are expected to integrate nursing knowledge and health evidence into clinical practice, policy development, educational approaches, clinical leadership, and quality-improvement and research work. The program is delivered by the Faculty of Nursing on campus, online, or in a hybrid format, and suits experienced registered nurses seeking advanced clinical practice authority as Nurse Practitioners; effective September 2026, all successful applicants to nurse practitioner studies are admitted to this degree.
