BA/BS in Biomechanics

This Bachelor of Science program in Biomechanics examines the forces acting upon and within a biological structure and the effects those forces produce, applying mechanical theories and concepts to living systems with an emphasis on the human body, its movement, structure, and function. Much of the learning takes place while working on problems in class and in supervised labs. First-year courses include Activity (Essence and Experience), Calculus for Engineers and Scientists, Introduction to Research in Kinesiology, Introduction to Socio-Cultural Aspects of Sport, and Human Anatomy and Physiology I. Program features include lab work, a practicum placement for hands-on career-related experience, and study abroad opportunities. Graduates work in areas such as coaching, recreation, health and fitness, and research, and the degree can also serve as a foundation for graduate study or further professional programs in law, medicine, veterinary medicine, or architecture.
