This is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences at the University of Calgary, a thesis-based research program delivered through the Cardiovascular Group, the Smooth Muscle Research Group, and the Airways Inflammation Research Group. Coursework covers molecular biology, organ and vascular systems, and cardiovascular and respiratory physiology and pharmacology, supported by direct contact with patient-oriented research. Required course work is determined by the student's supervisory committee, and students must attend Research Integrity Day sessions and CIHR sex and gender training in their first year, alongside journal club participation, work-in-progress seminars, and annual presentations. Both oral and written candidacy exams are required before students submit and defend an original research thesis.
