Overview
The Master of Environmental Design (MEDes) is a thesis-based graduate degree offered through the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. It allows students to expand a current professional or design-related background through advanced interdisciplinary, practice-based research and study. Coursework spans the science of sustainable design and planning, digital design and fabrication, and the history, pedagogy, process and practice of design and urban analysis and planning. The program culminates in a research thesis, giving students the opportunity to investigate a self-directed research question within an interdisciplinary design context. Undergraduate study is required before entry; applicants cannot enter the MEDes program directly from high school. Full admission requirements, including grade point average and language proficiency expectations, are maintained by the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape.
