The Master of Engineering in Sustainability in Engineering and Design is a course-based, non-thesis program offered by the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design in the Faculty of Engineering. The interdisciplinary curriculum brings together engineers, architects, and urban planners to apply systems-based frameworks and sustainability metrics to problems in sustainable design, renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, urban development, life cycle assessment, and the circular economy. The Institute organizes its research and teaching around four themes: sustainable processes and manufacturing, renewable energy and energy efficiency, sustainable urban development, and sustainable infrastructure. Graduates are prepared to devise solutions using holistic, systems-thinking strategies and to assess proposals against quantitative sustainability metrics. Admission requires an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 and English-language proficiency. The program admits students in the Fall term only.
