Overview
The Master of Sustainable Agriculture (MSAg) trains students in sustainable plant and livestock agricultural practices alongside data analysis, agricultural economics, communication, and leadership skills. Students choose a specialization in Plant Agriculture (covering plant physiology, biogeochemistry, breeding and genetics, and crop production systems), Livestock Agriculture (animal behaviour and welfare, breeding and genetics, physiology, nutrition, and digital analytics), or Environmental Sciences (soil science, agro-meteorology, controlled environments, integrated pest management, and pollinator biology). The degree is completed through coursework, hands-on projects with the agri-food sector, and a paid internship. The first semester is held at the Ridgetown Campus before students transition to the Guelph campus. Delivery is on-campus, with a single intake each Summer (May). Full-time students complete the program in 16 months across four semesters; a part-time option extends completion to 32 months. The program leads to the Master of Sustainable Agriculture credential.
