Overview
The Master of Plant Agriculture (MPAg) provides career-focused training in plant breeding, crop production, and plant science, with students selecting a specialization in breeding and genetics, biochemistry and physiology, or crop production systems. The program is coursework-based, letting students tailor courses to their own interests, and combines classroom learning with a 12-16 week internship, site visits, field studies, and guest lectures from industry professionals. Delivery is on-campus at the University of Guelph, with admission each Fall. Full-time students complete the degree in 24 months (3-4 semesters); a part-time option extends completion to 48 months. The program leads to the Master of Plant Agriculture credential and is aimed at students seeking applied expertise in plant science and crop production for careers in the agriculture industry, agri-business, and applied research.
