Overview

The Master of Computer Science at UNB Fredericton's Faculty of Computer Science is offered in two research-oriented formats. A thesis option is aimed at students who want to make an original research contribution and involves fewer courses alongside a substantial research component; a report option involves more coursework and a shorter research project. The degree can typically be completed in 16 to 24 months of full-time study, with part-time study also available; part-time students are limited to two courses, or six credit hours, per term. Students in either format may add a co-op designation, which requires eight to twelve months of work terms. The program is delivered at UNB's Fredericton campus. It suits students who want to explore computer science topics in greater depth and learn advanced techniques, including professionals from the information technology industry looking to upgrade their skills, as well as those considering research-oriented careers.
