This Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Ottawa introduces students to major questions in philosophy through the reading and discussion of foundational texts on topics such as truth, justice, morality, and existence. The curriculum follows a twin historical and analytical approach, covering political and social philosophy, ethics, philosophy of science, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and logic. Students complete 120 units of coursework spanning basic skills, compulsory courses at the 2000 level, and optional courses selected from areas including the history of philosophy, metaphysics, and epistemology. The Department of Philosophy also offers related programs in Ethics and Political Philosophy and a minor in Applied Ethics. The program is delivered in both English and French, with a French immersion stream available for students completing the degree in French.
