Overview

Philosophy at Queen's University is offered by the Department of Philosophy with courses spanning the history of philosophy from antiquity to contemporary thought, addressing questions across all areas of the discipline. Undergraduate students can pursue a Specialization, Major or Minor in Philosophy. The Specialization is an intensive course of study in which approximately half of a student's courses are in philosophy, with room for an optional minor in another Arts and Science discipline. The Major combines an intensive philosophy course load with added flexibility, requiring students to declare one or more minors from another discipline or to combine the plan with a major in another discipline. The Minor is a less intensive course of study that must be combined with a major in another discipline. The department is also home to the interdisciplinary Politics, Philosophy & Economics program, in which students can specialize in the philosophy component.
