Master of Science Human Kinetics

The Master of Science in Human Kinetics offers an integrated approach to the study of sport, physical activity and health, with an emphasis on the biophysical sciences - including biomechanics, physiology and psychomotor behaviour - as they relate to sport, physical activity and health. The program aims to generate scientific knowledge in the field, build students' quantitative and qualitative research capacities, and prepare specialists for roles across Canadian society. It is a thesis-based degree: applicants must identify a professor willing to supervise their research and thesis before admission. The program runs over six full-time terms (24 consecutive months) and culminates in an approved thesis proposal followed by a master's thesis defended before a committee. Graduates are prepared to pursue research or applied careers in sport science, physical activity and health-related fields, or to continue to doctoral study.
