Overview

Religious Studies at UPEI examines religious history, experience, culture, and doctrine across a range of traditions, exploring the role religion has played in human civilization. The department offers a major and a minor in Religious Studies, along with specialized minors in Christian Studies and Catholic Studies. Coursework is organized into general introductions to the field, thematic and comparative studies, Western religious history, Eastern religions, the interaction of religion and modernity, and advanced seminars for upper-level students. The major requires 42 semester hours within the discipline, and the minor requires 21 semester hours. The program is delivered on UPEI's Charlottetown campus within the Faculty of Arts and leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree.
