Overview
Holland College is Prince Edward Island's publicly funded community college, founded in 1969 and headquartered at the Prince of Wales Campus in Charlottetown.
It delivers more than 60 full-time certificate, diploma and post-graduate certificate programs built around hands-on, career-focused training, through a network of campuses and centres that stretches across the province: the Prince of Wales Campus and the Tourism and Culinary Centre in Charlottetown, the Summerside Waterfront Campus and the adjacent Marine Training Centre, the Atlantic Police Academy at Slemon Park, the Georgetown Centre and the West Prince Campus in Alberton. Program areas span the skilled trades (carpentry, construction electrical, welding fabrication, plumbing and pipefitting, precision machining, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and automotive technology), health and community services (practical nursing, primary care paramedicine, early childhood care and education), business and information technology, and public safety.
The Tourism and Culinary Centre houses The Culinary Institute of Canada, home of the college's culinary arts and pastry arts programs, while the Atlantic Police Academy, which opened in 1971, delivers pre-employment police science training with its own tactical training and innovation centre, driving course, weapons range and cadet residences. The college's trades programs are positioned as the first step toward Red Seal certification, and more than 130 degree pathway agreements let diploma graduates carry credit into university degrees.
