The Certificate in Computing develops computing literacy and the fundamentals of programming and software development for students who want to apply computing skills across a range of fields rather than pursue software development as a career. The two-year, part-time certificate requires 21 credit units, including the mandatory courses CMPT 214.3, CMPT 270.3, and CMPT 280.3, plus electives chosen from designated computing and mathematics or statistics courses. Entry is competitive, based on a ranking determined by an applicant's average in CMPT 141.3 or 142.3, CMPT 145.3 or 146.3, and MATH 163.3 or 164.3.
