This 30-credit certificate integrates core information-technology practices with other professional skills. Required courses cover programming and analysis, database fundamentals, object-oriented design methods, data structures, discrete mathematics, and the social dimensions of computing; optional courses drawn from business, human-resources, web development, systems programming, multimedia, and related areas let students tailor the credential to their existing field of study. The program introduces software design methods, core information technologies, and the stages of the software development process. It is a restricted-enrolment certificate offered only to students already active in one of the University's bachelor's programs who wish to add this credential as a component of their degree; entry requires a DEC in natural sciences, in sciences-arts-letters, the International Baccalaureate, a DEC in computer science and mathematics, or a DEC plus a differential-calculus course. The certificate is offered full-time or part-time, with admission in the fall and winter terms, at the Sherbrooke campus.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission is restricted to students already enrolled in one of the University of Sherbrooke's bachelor's programs who wish to complete this certificate as a component of their degree. Applicants must hold a DEC in natural sciences (200.B1), a DEC in sciences, letters and arts (700.A1), the International Baccalaureate (200.Z1), a DEC in computer science and mathematics (200.C1), or any DEC plus a differential-calculus course (0M02 or 0PU2). The certificate is offered full-time or part-time, with admission in the fall and winter terms.
