The Certificate in Peace Studies is an 18-credit-unit undergraduate certificate that takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of peace, conflict, reconciliation, substantive justice, and nonviolent resistance. The program addresses both the analysis and the creative transformation of conflict and injustice, treating peace as more than the absence of war and encompassing conditions such as social justice, gender and racial equality, and ecological health. Coursework draws on Political Science, Religious Studies, History, Anthropology, Indigenous Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, English, Philosophy, and International Studies, and students must select courses from at least three different subject codes, including the required courses CPSJ 112.3 and CPSJ 310.3. The certificate is designed for part-time study over one to two years, can be started off-campus, and applicants may enter directly from high school. At least half of the required coursework must be completed at the University of Saskatchewan.
