Overview
This full-time, five-month UFV certificate begins each September and prepares students for reception and administrative work in dental offices, dental labs, dental supply companies and insurance firms. Delivery is hybrid: Mondays and Wednesdays in person at the Clearbrook campus, Tuesdays and Thursdays asynchronous online, with class hours from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. Seven courses totalling 360 hours cover Introduction to Administrative Dentistry, Office Communications, Introduction to Clinical Dentistry, Dental Treatment Coordination, Dental Office Accounting and Career Planning, closing with a 75-hour, two-week practicum that gives exposure to a working dental office. UFV arranges practicum placements for local students, while others arrange their own site for approval.

Admission Requirements: UFV's Academic Calendar sets two entrance conditions for the Dental Office Receptionist Certificate: applicants must have B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent, or be at least 19 years old before their first day of classes, and they must meet UFV's Entry-level English language proficiency requirement. That Entry-level standard, published on UFV's general admission pages, is satisfied by an IELTS Academic overall score of 6.0 with no band below 5.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 80 with no section below 19, PTE Academic 56 with 52 or higher in Writing, CAEL 60+, MELAB 80+, CanTEST 4.0 overall, or a Duolingo English Test score of 100-109, among other listed pathways. A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening may be required for practicum placement depending on the host site, and students need a minimum grade of A- across prior coursework to qualify for practicum. The program starts in September.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply directly to UFV: applications for Fall (September) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026, for Winter (January) 2027 entry opened 1 May 2026, and for Summer (May) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026; UFV publishes no closing date for any of these and instead admits many programmes strictly in application-date order once every required document has arrived, so applying soon after opening matters more than any deadline. Grade 12 students may apply from 1 October of their graduating year and must send final transcripts by 3 August. International applicants use UFV International's own windows - 1 October to 31 May for Fall, 1 May to 31 October for Winter and 1 October to 1 March for Summer - and are likewise assessed on a rolling, first-arrived basis until each programme fills. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
