Overview
The Electronics Technician Certificate prepares you for a range of entry-level technical service positions through practical hands-on lab work, classroom-based lectures, group activities, reading assignments, and practice problems. You'll learn how to repair and build analog and digital circuits; use multimeters, circuit testers, oscilloscopes, logic probes; use diagnostic equipment to locate circuit, component, and equipment faults; and more.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: UFV admits the Electronics Technician certificate under its own Calendar entry. Applicants need B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent, or mature-student status (19 or older). Mathematics 10 or higher at C or better is required, or a passing score on UFV's trades math entrance exam. English proficiency may be met by English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at C+, a UFV Accuplacer Reading score of 80 or higher with WritePlacer at 6 or higher (8-point scale), a UFV CPT score of 41 or higher, or TOEFL iBT 80 with no section below 19. Grade 12 students may apply before finishing school if a counsellor confirms they are likely to graduate. Applicants should have good hand-eye coordination, colour vision and manual dexterity for the trade, and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 across all required courses to complete the certificate. The program is currently unavailable, with no intake until further notice.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply directly to UFV: applications for Fall (September) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026, for Winter (January) 2027 entry opened 1 May 2026, and for Summer (May) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026; UFV publishes no closing date for any of these and instead admits many programmes strictly in application-date order once every required document has arrived, so applying soon after opening matters more than any deadline. Grade 12 students may apply from 1 October of their graduating year and must send final transcripts by 3 August. International applicants use UFV International's own windows - 1 October to 31 May for Fall, 1 May to 31 October for Winter and 1 October to 1 March for Summer - and are likewise assessed on a rolling, first-arrived basis until each programme fills. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
