Overview
This certificate in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) at Polytechnique Montréal develops skills for working with the interconnection of machines, systems, and data in industrial environments, spanning sectors from healthcare and mining to construction and manufacturing. Coursework covers industrial controls, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing, with particular attention to network security within IIoT systems and attack detection. Graduates are trained to analyze and develop innovative IIoT ecosystems, use generated data to create business value, and secure that ecosystem. The certificate totals 30 credits, exclusive to Quebec and Canada, and can be taken full-time or part-time, with evening courses delivered fully online. It can be combined with two other eligible certificates toward a cumulative bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or in industrial production and performance. It suits graduates of related cybersecurity certificates and professionals from telecommunications, financial institutions, and internet service providers, leading to roles such as IIoT analyst, IIoT architect, and IIoT security specialist.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires a Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) in a computing field, or an Attestation d'études collégiales (AEC) in a computing field plus at least two years of relevant professional experience, or completion of the 1st-cycle microprogram in Internet industriel des objets with a cumulative average of at least 2.0/4.0. All applicants must also have completed course CR300 Introduction à la cybersécurité, or an equivalent, and must meet Polytechnique Montréal's certificate-level French requirement (CEFR B2, proof required at application, exemptions apply). Where a candidate's file does not already satisfy the CR300 requirement, Polytechnique imposes that course in the first term of enrolment; it must be passed then and does not count toward the certificate's credit total. The certificate is offered part-time or full-time, with regular evening courses delivered online, following the prescribed course sequence.
