Forensic Science is an Honours Bachelor of Science program offered at the University of Toronto Mississauga, available as a Major or a Minor. The program examines the analysis of physical evidence within a legal context, applying scientific method, laboratory technique, and case-based reasoning to criminal investigation, and it was established as the first undergraduate forensic science program in Canada. Coursework combines forensic biology, chemistry, and physical evidence analysis with the option to focus on a specific area of forensic practice. The program maintains partnerships with the Centre of Forensic Sciences, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, giving students access to real forensic casework and practitioners. Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with six Grade 12 U/M-level courses, including English, Advanced Functions, Biology, and Chemistry, with Calculus and Vectors and Physics recommended; the co-op component of Grade 12 courses is not used for admission.
