Hons in Psycholinguistics (HBSc)

Psycholinguistics is an Honours Bachelor of Science Specialist program offered at the University of Toronto Scarborough, redesignated as a Science program effective Fall 2024. It studies how language is learned, processed, understood, and produced by the human mind, combining coursework in linguistics and psychology with dedicated psycholinguistics courses. Foundational study covers introductory linguistics and introductory biological, cognitive, clinical, developmental, personality, and social psychology, building toward specialized courses such as Psycholinguistics and advanced options in adult language processing and language acquisition, where students engage with research methods including behavioural testing, eye-tracking, and child language corpora. The Specialist requires 13.5 credits, including at least 4.0 credits at the C- and D-levels with a minimum of 1.0 credit at the D-level. A co-operative work-integrated learning stream is also offered under a separate program code. Admission to the University requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with six Grade 12 U/M-level courses, including English.
