The Master of Information (MI) is a two-year professional graduate program at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Information, and is described by the faculty as its largest program. Students choose from eight areas of concentration: Library & Information Science, Archives & Records Management, Human Centered Data Science, User Experience Design, Information Systems & Design, Knowledge Management & Information Management, Critical Information Policy Studies, and Culture & Technology. Combined-degree pathways are available with Museum Studies and with the Faculty of Law's JD program. The faculty notes that the MI attracts students from a wide variety of academic backgrounds, and admission does not require standardized test scores. Graduates are described as going on to work across government, technology, business, health, education, and not-for-profit sectors, as well as in archives, libraries, and other cultural institutions, with some continuing to doctoral study. The program suits students who want to move into information-focused careers from varied undergraduate backgrounds and who wish to specialize through one of the eight concentrations rather than follow a single fixed curriculum.
