Overview

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto is a self-funded, course-based professional graduate degree, distinct from the university's research-stream MASc. Students complete ten half-credit courses, with the option of replacing up to three courses with a capstone project, and can study full-time, extended full-time, or part-time depending on their circumstances. Full-time students can complete the program in one year across three terms, with cohorts able to start in either the September-to-August or January-to-December sequence. The program is intended for engineering graduates who want to deepen their technical and professional skills in materials science and engineering through structured coursework rather than an original research thesis, without the funding or supervisor-matching process required for the MASc.
