Overview
The Master of Applied Science in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is a research-intensive graduate program offered by the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, covering a wide range of topics spanning advanced manufacturing and materials engineering, applied mechanics and design, biomedical engineering, energy and environmental engineering, robotics, mechatronics and instrumentation, thermal and fluid sciences engineering, human factors/ergonomics, information engineering, and operations research. Students are assigned a faculty supervisor who guides the research program and course selection, and normally complete 2.0 full-course equivalents together with a thesis. MASc students also complete the non-credit seminar course JDE1000H and must attend at least 70% of departmental seminars in their first year. An optional emphasis is available in Sustainable Energy. The program runs full-time over six sessions, typically two years, with a maximum completion time of three years. Instruction is delivered in person.

Admission Requirements: Applicants are admitted under the General Regulations of the School of Graduate Studies and must show evidence of research ability, with a minimum admission average of 3.0 (mid-B; 73-76%) in the final two years of undergraduate study.
