English: Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA)

Admission Requirements: UVic's direct-entry line for BC and Yukon high-school applicants is Approved English 11, Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Pre-calculus 11, an approved Science 11 and an approved Social Studies 11/12, then English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at 73% or higher plus three further approved academic Grade 12 courses, with an estimated competitive Grade 12 average of a minimum of 80% (Alberta applicants meet the equivalent through English Language Arts 30-1 at 73% or higher plus three approved 30/31 courses, at the same 80% estimate). The IB route needs a full diploma with at least three Higher Level subjects and English HL or SL at 3 or higher, for an estimated 27 points excluding bonus points. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet UVic's language-proficiency requirement, typically IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band under 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 88 overall with no section under 20; meeting the minimum average never guarantees an offer given limited places.
