Overview
Advanced Practice Leadership is UVic's course-based, practice-oriented Master of Nursing, aimed at nurses moving into leadership roles rather than into research careers. The program develops influence across several spheres, from direct client interactions through to health policy and system design, and students gain practical experience in settings including acute care, community and long-term care, government and primary care. Each student completes either a capstone or a research thesis that ties theory back to nursing practice. Delivery is fully online, which supports two study patterns: full-time over about two years, or part-time with continuous enrolment stretched across three to four years. A supervisor is not required before admission; the school works with each student to identify one early in the program.

Admission Requirements: This University of Victoria Master of Nursing pathway requires completion of a four-year bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in nursing from an institution recognized by UVic, with a minimum B+ (77%) average over the final two years of that degree, plus an upper-level (300 or 400) undergraduate statistics course completed with a final grade of B or higher and an Indigenous cultural safety course for health providers completed within five years of application. Applicants must hold active registered-nurse status, and the program strongly recommends the equivalent of at least two years of full-time recent nursing practice.
