Delivered online by the School of Nursing, this Master of Nursing is designed for Registered Nurses who self-identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit, with admission priority given first to applicants from BC Indigenous communities. Students choose a thesis or course-based route over two years full-time or three to four years part-time, and the curriculum weaves Indigenous knowledge into clinical practice, leadership, and policy, including an in-person land-based learning gathering in the third term.

Admission Requirements: The program's own page restricts admission to a Registered Nurse who self-identifies as First Nations, Metis and/or Inuit; it states no separate admission GPA but requires an upper-level (300 or 400) undergraduate statistics course completed with a final grade of B or higher, an Indigenous cultural safety course for health providers completed within five years of application, and verification of active RN registration. The program strongly recommends the equivalent of at least two years of full-time recent nursing practice, preferably in the applicant's chosen area of concentration. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet UVic's graduate language-proficiency requirement, either IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no band below 6.0 or TOEFL iBT overall 4.5 with no section below 4.0 (UVic's scale for tests taken from January 2026). A resume, an academic and an employment assessment report, and a 500-word personal statement are also required; the deadline for September entry is March 15, with documents due March 31.
