Mathematical Studies is an undergraduate degree offered by the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. It is the faculty's most flexible math major, allowing students to build their own combination of courses across algebra, calculus, combinatorics, computer science, number theory and statistics rather than following one fixed specialization. After first year, students choose the majority of their remaining coursework from Faculty of Mathematics offerings. The program can be completed as a co-op program, which adds paid work terms, or as a regular program without work terms. Ontario applicants are admitted based on six Grade 12 U/M courses, including Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, an English credit, and one other 4U course, with Grade 11 Introduction to Computer Science recommended. All applicants must complete the university's Admission Information Form as part of the application.
