Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance at the University of Waterloo covers theatre and performance broadly, from performance to arts management, design to critical studies, and creation to technology. Courses in performance, production, design, direction, and management give students technical skills across multiple areas of theatre practice. Each term, students take an active role in productions staged in the program's renovated 400-seat theatre, working on set design, costume creation, lighting, sound, producing, directing, and acting. Learning is built around student-led productions, combining classroom study with hands-on theatrical work. Graduates commonly pursue careers in entertainment, teaching, stage management, and directing, working in theatres, at festivals, and in schools; recent graduates have gone on to roles including stage manager, production manager, production assistant, and assistant lighting director.
