Overview
The English program at McGill covers three linked subjects: English literature, drama and cultural studies, letting students explore all three broadly while specializing in one area. The Drama and Theatre option introduces dramatic literature and the basic elements of theatrical performance, examined within a broad social and philosophical context rather than as professional actor training. Students study plays and performance as a liberal arts discipline, developing critical and analytical skills applicable to literary and dramatic texts.
