The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Systems Design Engineering is a thesis-based, research-focused graduate program that applies an interdisciplinary approach to engineering problem-solving. Students may follow a generalist path across systems design engineering or pursue in-depth research in up to two of the department's eight specialized graduate research fields, working closely with a faculty supervisor on an original research thesis. The program builds advanced engineering knowledge and research skills applicable across industries that rely on complex, interdisciplinary systems, and draws on faculty expertise spread across the department's specialized research fields. The program is delivered on campus and completed full-time over approximately twenty-four months, with admission offered for the fall, winter, and spring terms. Graduates pursue careers in engineering research and development, industry, and academia, or continue to PhD study.
