Program details

Overview

The certificate covers current techniques, methodologies, and approaches used in vocational and trades training. Instructional strategies studied include case studies, field trips, guest speakers, group discussions, assignments, presentations, and interactive lectures. Students work toward designing, delivering, and evaluating adult learning that reflects a range of vocational teaching approaches.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: English is required at an English 12 level or equivalent. Applicants must also hold trade certification and be currently teaching, or preparing to teach, in a vocational setting, or obtain department approval. No IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo or CAEL score is stated. The program is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents; non-residents may take the fully online offering from their home country, but doing so does not support study-permit eligibility or Post-Graduation Work Permit qualification. General conditions: aged 16 or older or a secondary-school graduate, official transcripts and required supporting documents submitted, with seats offered to eligible applicants in order of completed application. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to connect with VCC's university transfer team for additional support; enquiries go through the School of Instructor Education.

Application Details

Start Date: Continuous
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply through EducationPlannerBC. VCC publishes each programme's own application window, term by term, on its When to Apply page rather than one college-wide date: windows open roughly six to twenty months before the term starts and close on a stated date, though popular programmes can close earlier once seats fill, since places generally go to eligible applicants in the order their application is completed. International applicants use the International Applicant option on EducationPlannerBC; VCC opens international applications on 1 February of the previous year for Winter entry, 1 June for Spring/Summer, and 1 October for Fall, with no fixed closing date — applications continue until roughly three to four months before the term begins or until it fills, so admission is effectively rolling for international applicants. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
