Overview
The Bachelor of Tourism Management (BTM) Degree builds on existing diploma programs in Recreation and Sport Management, Tourism Studies and Hospitality Management that stress career-entry skills. The program provides applied skills and concepts related to the design of tourism products and management of tourism services. Focus is on the development of management and entrepreneurial skills needed to assume greater responsibilities within an organization, or for those wishing to start new enterprises.

Admission Requirements: The programme page states only that general VIU admission requirements apply for Year 1 entry, plus an official high school (and post-secondary, where applicable) transcript; entry to Year 3 requires a completed diploma in Recreation and Sport Management, Tourism Studies, Hospitality Management, or department permission. VIU's institution-wide Academic Programs route, which this Bachelor's programme follows, admits applicants who graduate from a BC secondary school (or accepted equivalent) with at least a "C" in English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12, hold a prior university degree, enter as a Letter-of-Permission visiting student, transfer in with 24 or more university-level credits, or qualify as an academic mature student (21+, same English "C" minimum). VIU does not publish a central English-test table for domestic applicants. This is a limited-entry programme, and a 2.33 GPA is required to keep work-placement eligibility once enrolled.
