Overview
The Ministry Studies Certificate is a one-year online program at Vanguard College that introduces core Christian theology and selected biblical studies. Fall courses cover the Bible as Story, hermeneutics, an introduction to personal formation, a theology course on soteriology and Christology, a practicum in personal effectiveness, and homiletics. Winter courses cover the Gospels, a theology course on God and the human condition, Luke-Acts, a practicum in relationships, the history of Pentecostalism, and pastoral life. The program builds a core of biblical and theological knowledge and develops skills in biblical interpretation. It runs on a two-semester Fall and Winter schedule within Vanguard College's online learning division. Course delivery follows the same theology and biblical studies curriculum used across Vanguard College's on-campus Christian Ministry programs, adapted for online, self-paced study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants to the Ministry Studies program must be at least 30 years of age and have a current appointment in ministry; all assessments are considered on an individual basis and completed by the Registrar.
