Overview
Vanguard College is an evangelical Bible college in Edmonton, Alberta, with a second campus in Calgary and online study options.
Founded in 1946, it serves as the official theological training college for the Alberta and Northwest Territories District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, and maintains partnership pathways with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland for credentialing and ordination. Students come from more than a dozen Christian denominations, giving the campus a deliberately interdenominational character.
Vanguard is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education, which recognizes it to grant certificates and degrees at the associate and baccalaureate levels; the college confers its own credentials rather than through an outside university. Teaching follows an outcomes-based model that blends classroom instruction with field education, including supervised ministry internships.
Degree programs concentrate on pastoral ministry, children's and youth ministry, pastoral care and counselling, and worship arts, alongside a diploma and certificate track in theology and biblical foundations.
Vanguard also holds memberships in ACSI, CHEC, the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, and the NEOS library consortium, reflecting its integration into Canada's broader evangelical post-secondary network.
