Overview
The Western Master of Financial Economics (MFE) is a 16-month, course-based graduate program delivered jointly by the Department of Economics, the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences, the Ivey Business School, and the Faculty of Law, and completed over four terms including a summer internship. The curriculum combines financial theory and economic frameworks with quantitative finance and securities law, preparing graduates for careers in risk management, financial modelling, investor and treasury services, and portfolio management. Admission requires a four-year undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, a quantitative discipline, or a general degree that includes specified coursework, with a minimum 78% average in the final two full-time years of study. Candidates are encouraged to write the Graduate Record Examination (GRE); applicants with a degree from outside Canada must achieve a minimum GRE Quantitative score of 150 on the new scale.
