Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at Western University is an undergraduate Honours Specialization module administered by the Department of Economics (the PPE-E concentration) in the Faculty of Social Science, drawing on courses from Economics, Philosophy and Political Science. The module requires 9.0 courses spanning core interdisciplinary PPE seminars alongside specialized courses in economics, philosophy and political science, plus further electives drawn from the three disciplines, with at least 2.0 of a 3.5-course group required at the 3000 level or higher. Entry builds on first-year courses in economics (Economics 1021A/B and 1022A/B), political science (Political Science 1020E), one philosophy course, two further 1000-level courses, and a calculus course. Teaching is based on Western's main campus in London, Ontario. By combining the three disciplines rather than a single-subject major, the program suits students aiming to examine political, economic and philosophical questions together, useful preparation for careers or graduate study in public policy, law, government, journalism or the social sciences and humanities generally.
