Overview
Accounting (Graduate Diploma) is offered by Western University's School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies through two streams: the Ivey Business School and the DAN Department of Management & Organizational Studies in the Faculty of Social Science. It is designed to accelerate students' progress toward CPA certification and an accounting career. The Ivey stream runs from the end of April to the end of July and is open only to current Ivey HBA students; the DAN stream runs from May to July and is open to graduates of DAN, King's, Huron and other Canadian post-secondary institutions. The diploma is one term in length, delivered full-time on a course-based format. Both streams require a 250-word Statement of Interest as part of the application; DAN-stream applicants must also submit a resume and a completed Course Verification Form.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Ivey-stream applicants must be current Ivey HBA students; DAN-stream applicants must meet the requirements set out by the DAN Department of Management & Organizational Studies and may come from DAN, King's, Huron or other Canadian post-secondary institutions. Both streams require a 250-word Statement of Interest; DAN-stream applicants must also submit a resume and a completed Course Verification Form. Applicants with two or more years of schooling at an English-speaking university in an English-speaking country are exempt from English proficiency requirements; other applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency: TOEFL iBT minimum 86 (before Jan 21, 2026) or 4.5 (on/after Jan 21, 2026), IELTS Academic minimum 7 in each category out of 9, or CAEL minimum 70 in each section.
