Overview
The MA in Philosophy at Western is a one-year, course-based program completed over three terms. Students take six one-term courses and write a 10,000-word research paper over the summer term. The department's graduate research spans five principal fields: feminist philosophy, history of philosophy, moral and political philosophy, philosophy of mind and language, and philosophy of science. Applicants are normally admitted with an Honours (or four-year) Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from an accredited university, though students whose undergraduate specialization is not Philosophy may also be admitted, and require a minimum average of 70% over the final two years of their undergraduate degree, as determined by Western's School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
