This one-year diploma develops leaders who stay rooted in culture while building the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to shape decisions in indigenous communities, balancing custom with present-day needs. Across its 240 credit points, students move through units on self-awareness in leadership, leadership styles and personal power, vision and wisdom, vanua communication and protocol, resilience and discernment, and collaborative, inclusive leadership, before turning in the second semester to business best practice, flexible use of resources, traditional iTaukei trade systems, indigenous entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, contemporary development issues, sustainable resource management and community engagement strategies.
Entry is open to anyone who has finished the Year 10 examination or an equivalent qualification, or who can communicate in I-Taukei, Rotuman (Fäeag Rotuam) or English. Final enrolment is nonetheless not a routine academic call: confirmation sits with the Programme Coordinator acting together with the Great Council of Chiefs, alongside the stated entry requirement.
