BA/BS in Tónsmíðar

Composition is a three-year, 180 ECTS Bachelor of Arts programme from the Department of Music, with three specialisation tracks and two different admission routes. It educates students in the techniques and methods of composition, both in contemporary practice and in a wider theoretical context. The three tracks are Composition and Theory, Composition in Open Space and Composition for Electronic Media. Applicants apply with one track in mind. The first year is shared between Composition in Open Space and Composition and Theory, so students can decide at the end of it whether to change track. As the programme advances, students gain more freedom to take courses and acquire knowledge outside their main track. It offers wide opportunities for artistic specialisation at university level and helps each student form, strengthen and deepen an individual artistic vision.
