MA/MS in Tekstils

This subfield approaches textile as an interdisciplinary art form spanning both fine art and design, covering areas from fibre art and printed fabric surfaces to three-dimensional textile objects, tapestry in classical and experimental forms, digital fabric, interior pieces and exhibition design, and domestic textile items. Students work across a range of techniques, developing traditional textile craft skills alongside experimental and original approaches, combining functional, market-oriented outcomes with more conceptual work. Alongside specialised practice, a balanced set of theoretical courses builds understanding of art history while encouraging contemporary, creatively competitive work. Students can gain international experience through placements and exchanges with more than twenty European institutions and a wide range of practical placements at European companies, and can compete for scholarships offered by the academy.
