This full-time first-cycle academic bachelor's programme in chemistry is offered by the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care at Daugavpils University. It lasts three years and leads to a bachelor's degree in natural sciences, in chemistry.
The programme aims to give students a sound grounding in chemical theory and research skills, with practical preparation that meets national needs. Students take classical chemistry courses, including general, inorganic, analytical, organic, physical and colloid chemistry and biochemistry. They then follow either a renewable resources strand, covering renewable resource chemistry, environmental chemistry, geochemistry and biomass management, or a practical bioanalytics strand, covering laboratory organisation, microscopy, testing methods and biomedical ethics.
Graduates can work in the renewable resources or bioanalytics sectors and continue to master's programmes in chemistry, biology or occupational safety, or to the professional teacher programme.
