This academic master's programme at LBTU covers food science and food production technology. Full-time study lasts two years over four semesters, with lectures in Jelgava in the second half of the week, arranged with the student group. Graduates receive an engineering science master's degree in food production technologies. The university identifies sustainability, health and convenience as the three factors that shape consumer choice. As dietary traditions change and production technologies advance, companies increasingly turn to non-traditional or long-forgotten raw materials to replace classical nutrients and create new foods, helping to secure food supply for a growing world population. Graduates are prepared to decide creatively and independently on the development and competitiveness of the food industry and to work in food companies, accredited laboratories, education and research institutions, and state supervision and administration bodies.
