Overview
Run jointly by the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, the University of Latvia and Riga Stradiņš University, this master's focuses on the role food plays in promoting health and preventing disease, building the ability to carry out scientific research across nutrition, food science, biochemistry and toxicology. Students learn to analyse existing evidence and generate new approaches for public health promotion and reducing the risk of diet-related illness.
Graduates go on to work in scientific institutions, clinics, rehabilitation centres, food companies, public health bodies, and sports organisations, as well as acting as nutrition experts in media settings; those who hold a medical practitioner certificate can also work directly with patients in roles requiring that qualification. The degree responds to a growing demand for nutrition specialists able to support public health sustainability and European nutrition policy goals.
