Woodwork Manufacturing (Furniture Joiner) is a secondary vocational education programme at Riga Technical College (Rīgas Tehniskā koledža). It is taught in Latvian at Lēdmanes iela 3 in Riga, lasts four years in the day department on campus, and leads to the qualification of furniture joiner.
Furniture joiners make, assemble and install furniture of various constructions on site, including solid wood, board, frame and upholstered pieces, and carry out repair and restoration. They plan and organise their own tasks and may deal with clients by taking orders, sketching and estimating costs. Most work in joinery workshops and in woodworking and furniture companies. Training covers reading drawings, machine and hand tool work, gluing, veneering, surface finishing and fitting hardware.
The programme admits students who have completed basic education (nine grades). Graduates can continue their studies at Riga Technical College (RTK), Riga Technical University (RTU) or the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU).
